上小阿仁村 Kamikoain Project Akita

８月６日から１０日間秋田県上小阿仁村で高齢者の部屋の写真シリーズ「ジャムの瓶詰め小屋」の新作を滞在制作し、廃校になった小学校の教室で発表しています。

小学校の展示は教室というシステムを使った「劇場性」を持った展示になったと思います。また、教室内に使用した備品はアコーディオン、算数の図形などを説明する模型、秋田のお盆で使われる「お盆とうろう（トロンコ）」などを配置し、抽象的な事柄を表現するものを意識しました。

上小阿仁村は東北の古来の文化が色濃く残る山奥の村です。天然の秋田杉が有名ですが、人口杉によって作られた直線の多さに、はっとさせられます。村の方々はとっても温かく、最初は本当に何を言っているかわからなかったのですが、遠くへ来た感じかして素敵でした。だんだんと慣れるとわかるようになってくるのも楽しかったです。運が良ければ、クマやカモシカに会えるかもしれません。是非いらしてください。

I have stayed for 10 days at Kamikoani Village, a tiny village in deep deep mountain in Akita in the north part of Japan to take new works for the series of photography taken inside the homes of elderly people The Game Keeper’s Jam Cellar. The show is using an abolished school. There is a hint of theater setting in the installation.

In Kamikoani, it is so far out so that the old tradition of Tohoku still remains. The village is famous for natural ceder. Though the straight lines made by artificial ceders are also bless taking. People are really shay and warm; it was really touching experience to meet them. Will be a good summer trip. If you are lucky, you might see bears.
